Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I pin a reminder to my Lock Screen?

A:

  1. Create or open a reminder and turn on Date & Time
  2. Swipe right on the reminder row in the list
  3. Tap Pin to Live Tile

Once pinned, the reminder shows as a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with a live countdown and a Done button that completes it without unlocking your phone.

Q: How do I add a photo to a reminder's tile?

A: Open the reminder's details and use the Photo section to choose a photo from your library. The same photo then appears on the Lock Screen Live Activity tile, in the Dynamic Island, and as a thumbnail on the notification.

Q: What's the full-screen alert / takeover?

A: For reminders you really can't miss, enable the full-screen alert toggle in the reminder's details (near the photo picker). When it's time, Jotter takes over the whole screen with your photo — instantly if the app is open, or when you tap the notification.

Q: How does the note editor work?

A: Every note is a single markdown canvas — no separate fields per line. Type / at the start of a line to open the block menu: headings, bulleted and numbered lists, to-dos, quotes, dividers, and file attachments. Wrap text in **double asterisks** for inline bold. Selecting, copying, and undo all work like normal text, because it is normal text.

Q: Can I link a note to a reminder?

A: Yes. In a reminder's details, under Notes, tap New Note to create one attached to that reminder, or Attach Existing Note to link a note you've already written. A reminder can have multiple linked notes.

Q: How does Enhance with AI work? Does it need the internet?

A: No internet required — it runs entirely on-device using Apple Intelligence. Tap the sparkles icon in the note editor or the quick-add bar to rewrite the text for clarity. This requires Apple Intelligence to be enabled on your device; if it isn't available, Jotter explains why in an alert instead of failing silently.

Q: How do I share a list?

A: Open the side menu, swipe left on a list, and tap Share. This uses Apple's standard iCloud sharing — you'll need to be signed in to iCloud, and the person you invite needs an Apple Account to accept.

Q: Is my data private?

A: Yes. Jotter has no accounts, no analytics, and no servers of its own. Your reminders and notes live on your device and in your own private iCloud. See the full Privacy Policy for details.

Troubleshooting

My Live Activity isn't showing up on the Lock Screen
Notifications aren't firing
The sparkles / Enhance with AI button doesn't do anything

This feature requires a device with Apple Intelligence support. If it's unavailable, tapping the button shows an alert explaining why — check that Apple Intelligence is turned on in iOS Settings.
