Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the keyboard need "Allow Full Access"?
Your saved clips live in a private container shared between the Clipwell app and
its keyboard. iOS only lets an extension reach a shared container when Full
Access is on. Clipwell does not record what you type, and it contains no
networking code at all, so nothing can be sent anywhere.
Why doesn't Clipwell save everything I copy automatically?
iOS does not allow any app to watch the clipboard in the background — this is an
Apple privacy restriction that applies to every app, not a Clipwell limitation.
You save an item deliberately: tap Paste in the Clipwell
keyboard, or send it to Clipwell through the Share Sheet.
What's the difference between snippets and history?
- Snippets are pinned. They never expire — use them for
your address, signature, or replies you send often.
- History is recent clips, kept for the period you choose
in Settings (one day up to a month), then removed automatically.
Why can't I insert an image from the keyboard?
iOS keyboards can only insert text — Apple provides no way for a keyboard to
place an image or file into another app's field. Tapping an image or file in
Clipwell copies it to your clipboard instead; then long-press the field and
choose Paste.
What does Clipwell Pro include?
Unlimited clips, plus images and files. It is a one-time purchase, not a
subscription. If you reinstall or change device, use
Settings › Restore Purchase in the app.
Where is my data stored?
Only on your iPhone, in Clipwell's private container. Nothing is uploaded, synced,
or shared. See our
Privacy Policy.
